SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES - EXTENDED 1 WEEK

Scholarship Opportunity for rural/remote WA people and/or people working in Aboriginal &/or Torres Strait Islander preventive health to attend the Preventive Health Conference 2021

The Public Health Association Australia (PHAA) and the WA Health Promotion Foundation (Healthway)

are offering scholarships to support rural/remote WA people and/or people working in

Aboriginal &/or Torres Strait Islander preventive health in WA to attend the

Preventive Health Conference, to be held in Perth, WA from 10 to 12 May 2021.

Whilst we are all facing major disruption, PHAA is committed to ensuring there are continued opportunities

for professional development and connection within the community. We are embracing a new way of delivering

conferences in an interactive online format as well as continuing the face-to-face format where permitted.

The scholarships will be offered to applicants who may otherwise be unable to attend such a conference. The scholarship can be used to cover registration and a contribution to accommodation costs. There is a limited budget for this initiative. The sum offered to each applicant will be influenced by the number of applications received and the individual costs of attending the conference.

The Preventive Health Conference is an annual conference aimed at providing a platform to engage, challenge and exchange ideas, where pivotal issues for building prevention in Australia is discussed and where delegates can learn from the experience, opinions and perspectives of sector leaders and their peers.

Scholarship Eligibility:

To be eligible, applicants must be individuals who meet the following criteria:​

  • Work or study in an area that has a focus on prevention; and

  • Live, work or study in a regional or rural area of WA and / or Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

Scholarship Assessment:

A panel of PHAA and Healthway representatives will assess the applications. The Panel’s decision is final and scholarships will be made available at their discretion. Applications will be assessed on:

  • Anticipated benefits of attending the conference

  • Eligibility based on the above criteria

There is a limited budget for this initiative. The sum offered to each applicant will be influenced by the number of applications received and the individual costs of attending the conference.

 

Please note that we are generally unable to cover the full costs of conference attendance so it is essential that you identify how the balance of your costs will be funded.
